This lovely carved teak Nandi bull toy is from Rajasthan. The Nandi is a symbol of the Hindu god, Lord Shiva, and cows and bulls still wander the streets of India to this day.
Sometimes they have lost their tails, but their wheels are often original to the piece. This piece dates to the early 20th century. Circa 1920.
Often a bit battered, the muted tones of its faded paint show signs of an interesting life. Nandi bulls are a perfect gift for a collector of art as every piece is unique.
